Special Considerations with Purchasing a Paintball Gun

Paintball is a fun and exciting game that uses teamwork and strategy to ultimately win the game. It is usually played outdoors and requires the teammates to communicate with each other, protect each other, and strategize how to win the game against one or more teams. Paintball does require the purchase of some equipment, some of which can be quite expensive, so it is sometimes better to borrow a friend or family member's equipment first, or rent it at a paintball shop before buying equipment so that individuals have more of an idea of what works for them before the investment.

Equipment

Paintball guns are the most expensive pieces of equipment to buy for playing paintball, with tournament guns costing over three hundred dollars at a minimum. Cheap paintball guns, meaning those that are under three hundred dollars, are the guns that beginning paintball players should buy because they require less cleaning and detailing than the tournament paintball guns. Another consideration in buying a paintball gun is what type of playing the individual will be doing. Although much play is done outside, there is also inside play so that type of gun varies depending on the environment. Individuals should also test out the paintball guns before buying because there are some that are so powerful that they should only be used by experienced users since they will knock over novice players who do not know what they are doing yet.

Masks are another very important piece of equipment for playing paintball. Masks help to protect the entire head area from the high pressure paintballs that are shot from the paintball guns. When individuals buy the mask, they should be fog resistant so that when the individual gets hot or when the weather outside is very cool, they do not want the mask to fog up and block the individuals' views of the surrounding area. Masks should also be made of a material that blends into the environment so that the opposing teams cannot easily see the player to shoot them. Masks should also cover the entire face, neck and ear regions so that it is completely protected from danger.

In addition to these items, the individual needs to buy a paintball jersey and also needs pants that fully cover the legs and have some thickness to them. The paintball jersey and pants should have some sort of padding in them because the paintball shots are fired at a high velocity and hurt when they hit an individual's body.
